Frequently Asked Questions

Hair Care

What is the difference between Remy and Virgin Remy hair?

The term "Remy" refers to the way the hair is collected from the donors with the cuticles from root to tip. "Virgin" means the hair has not been chemically processed. All of Janellis' hair is virgin remy, making it the highest quality hair.

What is the difference between a lace and a silk closure?

Silk closures have a layer of silk as well as a layer of lace. Silk closure are thicker than lace and create a more realistic scalp-like appearance. Lace closures are thinner and to give the appearance of a natural scalp, it requires more technique which consists of tinting to match the skin tone and often a fabric is placed underneath to lessen the lace grids that are noticeable up close. One closure is not better than the other its simply a personal preference. Although lace closures last longer and are flatter they require more work to give it a natural look.

How to prevent my closure from balding?

Balding is when your closure begins to have a bald spot where the hairs have come out. This can be due to excessive tugging, brushing/combing, scratching, applying product directly onto the closure and vigorous washing. Although closures mimic a real scalp, they cannot be treated like one. You must handle with care. It is strongly advised that when combing/brushing you should start from the ends and work your way up to the root while holding the hair at the root to prevent tension. Improper care of your closure will result in balding and unfortunately it cannot be fixed.

Can I place an order for items that are currently out of stock?

No. If you are interested in purchasing a product that is currently our of stock, submit your email on the product page that says "Notify Me When This Product Is Available" and we will contact you as soon as the product arrives in stock.

What does co-wash mean?

Co-washing simply means conditioner washing. It is a key task in extending the life of your extensions and keeping them healthy. We recommend a co-wash once a week. Shampooing the hair can strip the hair entirely too much. Always use WARM water when washing.

What grade is the hair?

All of our hair is 10A grade

How do I prevent the ends from getting dry and frizzy?

Always use a heat protectant before applying any heat to your hair.

How many bundles will I need?

For a full head of hair, we recommend a minimum of three bundles. If you are ordering longer than 20", four or more bundles we recommend that you purchase two bundles of the longest length to avoid the ends appearing thin.
